The biomass district heating plant of the town of Novi Pazar, Serbia, built by URBAS Energietechnik as general contractor, was festively transferred to its intended operation in the presence of the Minister for Mining and Energy.
Built in compliance with the schedule in cooperation with local partners, the facility is now supplying the town’s district heating grid with renewable energy produced by biomass.
Comprehensive measurements have shown that the switch from heavy fuel to biomass has clearly improved the air quality in Novi Pazar.
The lighthouse project impressively demonstrates how future-oriented policy and modern biomass technology by URBAS can help improve the economic and ecological situation in a region.
