OPENING OF THE CHP PLANT GJAKOVA

The biomass cogeneration plant in Gjakova/Kosovo, constructed by URBAS Energietechnik, was festively opened in November.

The EU ambassador and the Kosovan minister of economy attended the plants inauguration.

The turn-key plant erected by URBAS has a thermal output of 3 x 5.5 MW, supplying the district heating network of Gjakova with environmentally friendly power. Apart from this, the plant produces electricity to be fed into the public mains with a 1.1 MW steam turbine.

The EPC project completed by URBAS was funded by the European Union. In addition to planning and approval, it comprises the turn-key erection of the overall plant, delivery of machines and plants for fuel treatment, and fuel manipulation, as well as operation of the plant for several months to train the local operating staff.
